The Beijing Zoo wholesale market, closed down in 2017, used to be very popular with local residents, even foreigners, looking for fashion bargains. If you pay a visit to the area now, you might be surprised to see its new look.
2017年关闭的北京动物园批发市场，曾经非常受北京人甚至外国人的欢迎，在那里你可以买到物美价廉的时尚用品。如果现在来到这里，你会为它的新面貌所惊讶。
Previously the Beijing Zoo wholesale market consisted of 12 markets, the one located in Sida building was one of them. Sida building is now a financial technology center, also the first one included in the core area of the National Fintech Demonstration Zone in central Xicheng District.
以前的动物园批发市场一共有12个市场，四达大厦就是其中之一。 如今的四达大厦已变身为新动力金融科技中心，成为北京金融科技和专业服务创新示范区核心区首个起步楼宇。
Walking up to the second floor of the building, a large sculpture on the wall attracts visitors’ attention. It tells the story of the transformation this landmark building has gone through. Du Kai, chairman of the board of Beijing New Actuation Fintech Center, explains the inspiration for the work:
这里二楼的墙壁上，悬挂着一幅“白泽迎溯”的创意雕塑，诉说着这座标志性建筑的前世今生。北京新动力金科资产运营有限公司董事长都凯介绍了这副雕像的创作的灵感：
5840-meter long velvet wool is used in this work. It represents the 5840 days in the past 16 years since the building was built back in 2004. 1000 clothes hangers are welded in 2000 spots, in a bid to show respect to the booth owners doing business in the building when it was part of the famous wholesale market.
这个雕塑共用了5840米的丝绒线，象征这个新动力金融科技（中心）从2004年到如今16年5840天；1000个衣架2000个焊点，共计3000个，象征着曾经在这里工作的3000余名商户，通过这个雕塑像曾经的动物园批发市场的商户致敬。
The Sida building was turned into a financial technology center after indoor renovation in Dec 2020. The intelligent management system was installed to provide the smart working environment by managing energy use, security system and information system in real time.
2020年12月，四达大厦完成内部改造，从过去的服装批发市场转型成为“国家级金融科技示范区”核心区的起步楼宇。大厦配有楼宇智慧管理系统，可以时时管控楼宇能源使用、安防、资讯等运维信息，为入驻企业管理者及员工提供智慧化工作场景。
Currently, over 120 companies in the financial technology sector or relevant service providers are based in the center. Chinabond Finance & Information Technology Co. Ltd is one of them. Dai Xiao, chairman of the board explains:
目前，120多家金融科技企业和专业服务机构已经实现入驻。中债金科信息技术有限公司就是其中之一，董事长戴晓介绍道：
It is a national level platform. We expect more companies in the sector will be based here in the future. This way we can jointly develop the industry.

The National Fintech Demonstration Zone enjoys the optimized advantage resources of Zhonguancun Science Park and Beijing Financial Street and it aims to establish itself as a top international Fintech Demonstration Zone. Nie Jieying, deputy director of Xicheng District explains:
新动力金融科技中心汇聚中关村、金融街两大区域的优势资源，将这一区域打造成为国家级金融科技示范区。西城区副区长聂杰英解释说:
Our goal is to attract 20 top companies in the financial technology sector to the Demonstration Zone each year. It will be a base to boost the establishment of Fintech standard system, also a platform to promote the infrastructure improvement in the sector.
我们的目标是每年引进20家头部的金融科技机构，我们希望把金科新区打造成为金融科技标准体系建设的重要承载地、金融基础设施建设的重要承载地。
