避免事情是人类的天性；避开狮子，火山或大石头之类的危险现象，已经帮助我们存活了下来。无论采用哪种方法，避免事物都是生活中不可或缺的一部分，而知道说avoid的不同方式只能使我们作为一个物种受益。

　　To  evade  something意为：用诡计或聪明来逃避某事。

　　想象电影里的场景：A man, being chased down an alleyway, turns the corner, slips into a group of parade marchers, rips off his jacket and hat, and loses his pursuers in the crowd.（一个男人在小巷里被人追赶，拐过一个弯，溜进一群游行的人群中，扯掉他的夹克和帽子，在人群中追赶者跟丢了。）

　　skirting something意为：在边缘避开它。

　　你可能也会在天气新闻中听到这个词，天气恶劣城市即将被大雪摧毁，天气预报员报道：The storm took a different track and ended up skirting the city.（风暴沿着不同的轨道移动，最后绕过了城市。）

　　v.避免；绕行
