At Pazhou Metro Station in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, an underused area originally reserved for transfer passages has been transformed into a sports and fitness venue covering more than 10,000 square meters. The space includes cardio, strength training, functional fitness and boxing zones, as well as table tennis and pickleball facilities, with more than 300 pieces of fitness equipment. Pazhou is home to a large number of tech companies and young office workers, and is also an important metro and intercity transport hub. By making use of previously idle space instead of relying on major new construction, the project brings fitness facilities closer to people's daily commutes and offers a new way to make better use of existing urban space.
